Making Christ Known . . .
To contact us:
Chapel School uniforms consist of a collared polo shirt (short or long-sleeved) in the colors of royal blue, gold and white with our school logo and any type of khaki bottom. You must purchase your child’s uniform shirts from Buckhead Uniforms either by phone, mail or the internet. Chapel School girls also have the option of ordering a matching plaid skort from Buckhead Uniforms. Khaki bottoms can be purchased wherever you choose. All students will be required to wear socks and closed shoes every day. For your child’s safety on our playground, we will not accept any type of flip-flop, sandal, croc or shoes with a unsafe heel. Sneakers or sturdy play shoes are preferred. For outerwear, you may order a hooded navy zippered sweatshirt with our school logo from Chapel School. On very cold days your child may wear your choice of a winter coat.

As part of our mission, we strive to keep our Chapel School tuition rates affordable. Members of Memorial Lutheran Church receive a discount.
Annual tuition rates for 2009/10 are as follows:
K-3 Caterpillar Class Member $800.00 Non-Member $900.00
K-4 Butterfly Class No Charge—VPK
Elementary Classes Member $3,600.00 Non-Member $3,800.00
You have the option of making 1 payment at the annual rate or 2, 4, or 10 payments with applicable service charges.
Tuition assistance is available through the Kenneth V. Helms Memorial Scholarship Fund. Information is available from the school director.
Each student should bring his/her lunch with drink to school each attending day except for the K-3 Caterpillar Class. If your child’s lunch requires refrigeration, please make sure it is packed in some type of cooler because all lunches will be kept in the classroom each day. Hot lunches may be purchased from the school on Thursdays and Fridays. Monthly menus are sent home and lunch orders must be sent in with payment by the first of each month.
Entrance & Exit Policies
Your child’s safety while at Memorial Lutheran Chapel School is of extreme importance to us. All classes will meet in Hartman Hall (rear of church, through double doors) each morning. The teachers will line the children up promptly at 8:30am for daily chapel. Your child must be supervised while in our parking lot and in Hartman Hall until the teacher has arrived. Any child who is not present when lining up for chapel at 8:30am will have to wait with their parent until the class moves to the classroom. Chapel Time will not be interrupted by late arrivals.
Your child will be released only to you or whomever you have selected on your registration forms. We will not release your child to any person who has not been properly indicated on your registration forms. We will require identification from anyone listed on your forms who we do not already know. If you wish your child to go home with another child, or anyone not listed on your registration form, you must provide written permission. Telephone calls and email cannot be properly verified and will not be accepted.
Children at Memorial Lutheran Chapel School will not receive physical punishment. Children who have conflicts or problems with others while at our center will be encouraged to verbalize their angers and concerns. The role of the adult at school is to be a helper for positive problem solving. Our staff members guide rather than punish.
Children whose behavior endangers others will be supervised away from other children. The child will then process the problem with a staff member, and any other concerned parties. Staff rarely uses “time-out” unless a child is emotionally out of control and needs a private time to regain composure or repeatedly refuses to cooperate. Verbal processing is our preferred technique.
Discipline, i.e. guidance, will always be positive, productive, and immediate when behavior is inappropriate.
No child will be humiliated, shamed, frightened, or subjected to verbal or physical abuse by staff or by parents on the premises or during field trips.
Memorial Lutheran Chapel School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
Emergency Closure Information
In the case of hurricanes, flooding, or national security issues, Memorial Lutheran Chapel School will follow the St. Johns County School District decisions regarding emergency closure situations. Any time the St. Johns County Public Schools close for any type of emergency, we will also be closed. You will not receive individual telephone calls. Please listen to local news and radio for information regarding school closure.
